Lockdown 2.0 Closure Announcement
Posted by Natalie Dickinson on 3 November 2020
British Gymnastics have been briefed by Sport England and UK Sport. The key messages that we received were;
-
All indoor facilities (this includes gymnastics clubs) should prepare to close as of Thursday 5th November. Brune Park have informed us they will be closing to community hirers unless the government announce a new change.
This news is incredibly disappointing. We know we have done everything in our power to make gymnastics safe, and we have helped to restore a sense of normality for our team in the gymnastics community. And while we are confident of the health benefits that our sport brings, the number of cases of Covid-19 continue to rise across the country. The increased pressure on the NHS means we must do our bit to keep everyone safe.
We are acutely aware of the financial pressure our club and many clubs will be under as a direct result of a further period of closure. Please be assured the coaches & committee are working hard behind the scenes to work out zoom training times and invoices.
We have pulled together and come through lockdown once before and we urge every family to engage with their gymnasts, to keep in touch and to help one another stay positive during this time. We encourage you to reach out to us if you have any worries, concerns or feedback. We will be setting activities at home and to keep your gymnasts connected and active.
Thank you for your continued support, it is very much appreciated during these difficult times.
